Young Invincibles released a new report estimating that the economy is missing 2.7 million youth jobs that would have existed had the recession never occurred. That is about the same size as the entire population of Chicago. Even under optimistic assumptions, young Americans will not make the the lost ground before 2021, and there is a real change the youth labor market may never recover.

This report answers the question 'What comes next for America's Youth?' by comparing the number of youth jobs we have now with how many we would have in a healthy economy. The new analysis estimates the size of this “youth jobs gap” and how long it will persist.
