In this session, Tanzanian youth and representatives from DAI will share their experiences and lead discussions about USAID’s Feed the Future Tanzania Advancing Youth Activity (AY) Youth – implemented by DAI in partnership with SNV and Pathfinder – which connects youth to opportunities for entrepreneurship training and employment opportunities, technical skills building, leadership development, and healthy lifestyle cultivation. In support of Tanzania’s journey to self-reliance, AY employs an intersectional methodology that engages young people as collaborators and leaders in program design, implementation, learning, and adaptation to ensure young voices are included in solving Tanzania’s development challenges.

This “ecosystem” model focuses on training and mentorship in the “three ‘L’s” – Livelihoods, Leadership, and Life Skills – and catalyzes the benefits for young people beyond the direct support and resources of projects. Engage with Tanzanian youth, and DAI to learn about this ecosystem model and how it may be adapted to your own projects.
