Increasingly, the economy is demanding that youth adopt an entrepreneurial mindset to earn a living. Unfortunately, today's schools are ill equipped to provide the training in the behavioral skills that comprise this mindset, like opportunity recognition, critical problem solving and communication. To meet this need, NFTE (Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship) has been building an Entrepreneurship Pathway, a multi-course sequence to prepare secondary school students to startup their own businesses -- along with the Entrepreneurial Mindset Index (EMI), an assessment to help youth understand this skillset. This presentation will share with readers what they found when they measured entrepreneurial mindsets of youth and how this information is being used in the classroom. EY is providing signature support for the EMI as part of their focus on the future of work.
