Liberia Advancing Youth Project
The Advancing Youth Project will provide increased access to quality alternative basic education services, social and leadership development and livelihoods for out of school youth aged 13-35 who have no or marginal literacy and numeracy skills. The Project will work closely with the Ministry of Education and community-based organizations to build their capacity to manage a system and programs that provide youth with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed.
Key activities include developing three levels of curriculum in literacy, numeracy, life skills and work readiness; training facilitators to deliver alternative basic education; providing youth with work-based learning opportunities, and links to skills and entrepreneurship training; forming youth clubs and local alliances to support youth education and enhanced livelihoods; and developing private-public partnerships. Our focus is on testing alternative models, conducting rigorous evaluation and providing designs for sustainable national service delivery.
