How are Young Africans Seizing New Opportunities in Agriculture?

Ashoka

Agriculture is the age-old occupation in Africa and in many countries well above half of the Gross Domestic Product still comes from agriculture. Unfortunately, young people are not taking part in a way that will best provide current and future employment leading to financial sustainability. The good news is that innovators are helping to shift mindsets around farming and are rebranding agriculture as a “hot” career prospect where young people can seize opportunities as agribusiness leaders powered by 21st century technologies.

During our next Future Forward webinar, we explore how social entrepreneurs and young farmers are helping each other harness opportunities and leapfrog into the information age to shape a more sustainable Africa.

The panel will feature social entrepreneurs, development practitioners and young people discussing how this age-old vocation can be upgraded for the 21st century.
