Youth unemployment is one of the greatest and most complex challenges of our time, and among many other factors, the widening gap between the education system and the labor market is a driving force of youth unemployment in many countries. Due to the complexity of the issue, the resolution of global youth unemployment requires the collective effort of a variety of stakeholders, including educators, public policy and employers. This webinar takes a deep dive into the crisis and seeks to disentangle the factors and actors that collectively led to it. Moreover, it provides insights into challenges and opportunities that arise at the intersection of the education system and the labor market. To conclude, it offers a variety of creative ideas for how each and everyone of us can get actively involved in his or her daily function to help and tackle youth unemployment.

Peter is Assistant Professor for Entrepreneurship at the University of St. Gallen, a serial entrepreneur and author of the book ‘Generation Jobless?’. He is founder and Chairman of the HR Matching AG, a leading technology company that bridges the gap between the education system and the labor market. He is partner of the Futurework Forum and trainer of several youth-driven startups. He serves as a advisor to governments and universities in their innovation, entrepreneurship and labor market strategies. He is think-tank member of the World Entrepreneurship Forum, member of the World Economic Forum Global Shapers Community and a Global Economic Symposium Fellow. He is a frequent speaker at international conferences and events such as, for example, TEDx, the G20 Youth Forum, the Global Economic Symposium, the St. Gallen Symposium, the G20 Young Entrepreneurs Alliance, among others.

Michelle is an educator, speaker, and edupreneur who is passionate about inspiring innovation in the field of education. She has taught economics in both the U.S. and Switzerland. Michelle is co-author of Chapter 5 of ‘Generation Jobless?’, where solutions are being discussed for how to bridge the gap between the education system and the labor market. Michelle is a part of the World Economic Forum’s Global Shaper Initiative and was a speaker at TEDxLausanne. She earned her Masters from Instituto de Empresa in Madrid.

Carsten is the founder and CEO of Circular Society. Prior to founding the Circular Society, he has worked with DaimlerChrysler for 12 years, served as Chief Human Resources Officer of the World Economic Forum and leader of the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on "New Models of Leadership”. He is co-founder and former Chairman of the International Human Resources Community (IHRC) of Switzerland. Carsten is a regular keynote speaker at international conferences or multinational corporations and a lecturer at a number of academic institutions. He serves as a member of the Advisory Group of AIESEC International and EMSHRM at Bocconi Business School.
