JOB: Director: Youth Practice
IREX seeks a strategic, innovative and collaborative Director of the Youth Practice to spearhead IREX’s efforts to develop and deliver highly effective international youth development programs that are in line with IREX’s impact goal to empower youth in service of IREX’s mission to build just prosperous and inclusive societies.
The IREX Youth Practice provides high-quality economic, civic, social, learning, and engagement opportunities for youth aged 10-29, with a focus on catalyzing and empowering youth to build their skills, lead their peers and communities, and create positive change at the local, regional, and national levels. IREX offers training, education, consulting, mentoring, practical experiences, and networking to youth in over 100 countries around the world. IREX further supports youth-serving organizations and institutions to strengthen their products, services, and approaches to empowering and engaging youth.
The Director of the Youth Practice manages and mentors a team of over 30 talented staff who support, coordinate, design and implement programs within a nearly $30 million-dollar portfolio of youthdevelopment programs. The Director will be charged with ensuring high-quality youth development programming across the portfolio, building the youth practice by helping to generate revenue from diverse sources to expand programming, and will ensure high quality, results-focused program management.
The Director of the Youth Practice serves on IREX’s senior management team, which provides leadership to the whole organization. S/he provides leadership across the organization in support of IREX’s work to achieve its youth impact goal through all relevant IREX programs.
A self-starter, the Director of the Youth Practice will continually assess the competitive environment to consolidate existing partnerships and to identify new opportunities for IREX to advance its mission. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of the youth development field and proven experience leading and managing youth development programs, including forward-looking models and approaches that partner with the private sector and philanthropic community.
A proven team leader, s/he will guide the Youth Practice and collaborate with other IREX teams to develop and observe standards of excellence and to ensure customer and partner satisfaction. S/he will work with IREX’s Global Programs and the Strategy and Development Group to implement the newly-developed IREX Approach to Youth Development across the organization. S/he will work with professionals across IREX to cultivate a spirit of learning, innovation, and entrepreneurship and to further strengthen systems for delivering high quality services and products. S/he will maintain a broad understanding ofyouth development, IREX’s comparative advantage, and IREX’s operating environment. This is a role that combines strategy, excellence in program execution, relationship building, and generation and acquisition of new revenue. The Director of the Youth Practice serves on IREX’s senior management team, which provides leadership to the whole organization.
